i went grocery shopping because even though my roommate and i eat similarily and eat together, we’ve been running on different schedules and i hardly see her and, let’s face it, i gotta eat. so, i went and fended for myself.

anyways, i hate grocery shopping. it seems like no one else make a list and they all just mill about. i get that sometimes, you can’t find what you’re looking for. you keep staring and reading and reading and ohmigosh it’s not there. have some respect: keep your cart close to you and don’t block the whole goddamn aisle. and then there’s the grocer at the register judging your purchases. i went to whole foods for their bulk section and king soopers for their cheaper veggies and beans. at whole foods i bought a giant tub of earth balance because financially, it made more sense to get 2lbs that’ll last us months than the 15oz in which we’ll be back in a couple weeks. and the grrrl at the register was like “that’s a lot of natural buttery spread.” yes. yes it is. it’s a fuckton. but have you compared prices and sizes and figured out which one’s cheaper per ounce? i did. this one is.

and at king soopers, i stocked up on beans. there’s a few things i want to make that require beans. and then they had the can of vegetarian beans that i grabbed, because i’ve been craving beans & toast since i left ireland. and the guy at the register was like, “you making a bean salad?” i said, “no, i’m stocking up.” i don’t really need this many cans of beans to get me through the week. but at $.50/can, why not grab two or four of each? and he goes, “you need something more than that!” well, sir, i also have some veggies here. i also went and bought some bulk foods at wholefoods. we also happen to have some frozen tofu that i’m determined to figure out how to cook. also, i’m a lactose-intolerant vegetarian (usually eat vegan, but sometimes i have cheese on my pizza and cream cheese on my bagels. which i can eat thanks to these super pills my roommate found). my proteins are a lot of beans.

/end rant.
